A MIDAS package designed to the automatic search of TNOs has been elaborated in Besançon Observatory by Philippe Rousselot and Frédéric Lombard (a student in computer science). Its goal is to help the astronomers who want to search for new TNOs. You can find more details in this paper: P. Rousselot, F. Lombard, G. Moreels, 1999, ``Search for Trans-Neptunian Objects: an automated technique applied to images obtained with the UH 8k CCD Mosaic Camera'', Astron. Astrophys. 348, 1035-1039.
The files containing this new MIDAS context can be dowloaded freely from this Web page. Two scripts are availables: (i) install.usr.sh, which can be used by any user in UNIX, the files needed by the code are copied directly in the current directory and (ii) install.root.sh, which needs to be used by someone having the write access in the MIDAS directories. The README file contains all the instructions necessary to install the files.
In order to enable the context in MIDAS, type "set/context TNO" after having launched MIDAS package. Three new commands will be added to MIDAS: (i) center/frames, (ii) search/tno and (iii) view/tno. Some new keywords need also to be defined and a catalogue of images must be defined before using the first command (center/frames). In order to have all the details concerning the use of these commands use the help command.
